Gutenberg to be Released soon

Gutenberg to be Released soon
Friday, November 23, 2018

This site has been using WordPress 4.9.8 for quite some time like most other sites and pretty soon it will update to WordPress 5.0 at the end of this November. According to the Gutenberg Times (https://gutenbergtimes.com/mullenweg-on-gutenberg-roll-out-plan/) there will be the final rollout for version 5.0 per lead developers. They have scheduled it to be released on Tuesday, November 27, 2018.
There are at least 12 team members helping out with the development.

Many previously separate plugins will be merged possibly into the new roll out. Many themes need to work with this new block-based editor. They have also added a new “Twenty Nineteen” theme. And then they are changed this from a separate plugin to the default building tool.

They are making the interface WYSIWYG or what you see is what you get. They have also added new copy and paste compatibility with Google Docs, Microsoft Word, Evernote, Office 365, old versions of WordPress, Apple Pages and many websites. There are also automatic translation of links and URLS.

There are also new options to create templates, shared blocks, nested blocks and child blocks. We won’t go into too much detail here but definitely check that out.

Am excited to see how SWM will be able to be developed faster with this new editor upgrade.

Update: This release has now available for download to the public as of December 6, 2018! According to some site reviews it may be a good idea to wait a few months for plugins and other themes to catch up to the new updates.
